What Treatments Help Auto Injuries?

#1 Auto Injury Therapy Electric Muscle Stimulation

Hi, I am Dr. Shook.  I would like to share with you one of the therapies that could help with an Auto injury, and that is Electrical Muscle Stimulation.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation helps with Auto injuries by decreasing pain and increasing circulation in the area where the tissues have been injured.

By using Electric stimulation, we can help people to get out of pain faster and also to restore function quicker because we can decrease their pain and get them into active therapy faster, so they can better heal and strengthen tissues so that you do not heal back wrong.

# 2 Auto Injury Therapy Traction

Hi, I am Dr. Shook. Today I would like to share with you how Traction or intersegmental traction therapy can help with an Auto injury.

Intersegmental traction therapy is a type of a traction which puts stress and tension through the muscles and joints of the spine. It is very gentle and the table we use has three rolls that roll up and down the spine, what they do is - they roll up and down the spine, it feels good, it is like you are getting a massage, and most people find great relaxation and decreases in muscle tension and pain when they use this therapy.

The reason that we use it is because the stretch and massage that its putting into the muscles along the spine and the ligaments, helps to minimize scar tissue formation so that you don't heal back wrong, so that you maintain the range of motion and flexibility of the spinal column which can be very seriously injured and in period where they whiplash like injury.

If you have sustained or been on motor vehicle collision, we would be happy to take a look at you and let  you know if it is something that needs to be treated or if we can help you out with your injuries.

If you have any questions or would like to be evaluated to see if you have a permanent injury, or to determine how serious the injury is that you sustained, give us a call at 828-324-0800.

# 3 Auto Accident Injury Therapy Spinal Decompression

In this video, I would like to discuss another therapy that can help you to recover from an Auto Accident Injury. This Therapy is Spinal Decompression Therapy.

Spinal Decompression therapy is a form mechanical traction where we use a specialized table that gently takes pressure off of your spine.  It is very gentle, it stretches the spine length-wise or end from end, taking pressure off the joints of the spine, the discs, and the nerves that exit the spine.

Many people find that gives them great relief and decreases their pain while improving their ability to function. It is an ideal treatment for many spinal conditions including disc herniations and disc bulges and in arthritic spines as well.

There is some cases that do not qualify for treatment on these tables but there is something that we diagnose and work up in the examination during the investigation process  to see if we can help.

If you have been in a motor vehicle collision or if you have a spinal condition, Spinal Decompression therapy may be an appropriate therapy for you.

#4 Auto Accident Injury Therapy Cold Laser

In this video we are going to discuss the fourth top therapy for helping you to heal auto accident injuries.

The #4 top therapy is Laser therapy.

In the last several years, Laser therapy has really evolved and has become an essential therapy in speeding the healing of soft tissue injuries. Most motor vehicle collision injuries are considered soft tissue which are basically damage to the cartilage of the joint, the ligament that supports and holds the joint in place and then the muscles that move the joint. The spinal discs and nerves that exit the spine are often involved, and are all considered soft tissues.

he main benefit of laser therapy is how it helps accelerate tissue healing.

If you have a whiplash injury, lets say for example to your neck, then we can use laser therapy on the muscles and ligaments of the spine to help accelerate and speed the healing process.

Laser therapy also helps to decrease some other inflammatory chemicals that cause pain, further accelerating tissue healing, decreases pain, and ultimately helps you get better faster.

#5 Auto Accident Injury Therapy Computerized Spinal Adjustments

I would like to discuss the number fifth best therapy to help the healing of Auto Accident Injuries.

That therapy is Computerized Spinal Manipulation.

Spinal manipulation has been shown clinically and in the research to help with decreasing pain and improving function.

Traditionally spinal manipulation or spinal adjustments have been done by hand. Many people are familiar with spinal manipulation because they have been to see a chiropractor and have had manipulation before.

The newest technology in spinal manipulation is actually a computerized percussive adjustment, and that type of adjustment is very gentle and there is no twisting or popping.  It can help to decrease pain and improve your function, range of motion and help you with car accident injuries so you do not heal back wrong. Because spinal manipulation helps the scar tissue to heal back thin and strong, it also helps to decrease the sensitivity of new nerve endings that grow into the tissue as you heal, and is the perfect therapy to use for torn muscles and ligaments like that are sustained with a "whiplash" injury.

So the number 5 best therapy, in my opinion, to help with the healing of soft tissue injuries and in particular with motor vehicle collisions and that is computerized Spinal Manipulation.

If you have any questions or if you have been in a motor vehicle collision and would like an opinion to see if we might be able to help you recover faster, just give us a call, our phone number is 828-324-0800.

#6 Auto Accident Injury Therapy The ATM2 (Active Therapeutic Movements 2)

In this video, I would like to share with you the number 6 best therapy for healing Auto Accident injuries.

This is a therapy that you may have never heard of before, and it's one of the best therapies that we use in our clinic. The #6 best therapy for helping heal auto accident injuries is Active Therapeutic movements.

The ATM2 (Active Therapeutic Movements 2) is an incredible piece of equipment that improves your muscle coordination so that you can move in a range of motion that has less pain.

After autoaccidents most people will have a lot of pain, swelling, and muscle guarding that keeps their range of motion limited. Once the inflammation calms down, a lot of people still have pain when they move and turned their head and neck.

In the past (before technology like the ATM2) people with those types of injuries would be prescribes exercises, stretches, and in office therapy like spinal manipulation. The problem is that in some cases the pain does not get better with traditional treatments, and muscle guarding continues to persist from the injury.

These painful movements occur because of something called  a pathological muscle activation recruitment pattern. And basically what the ATM2 does is, it helps to train your body to fire those muscles in a coordinated way so they are working together in a less painful range of motion.

It is not uncommon that in one treatment to see someone have 30% improvement in their pain with movement, and in many cases, we have seen those improvements and results to be lasting.

With several sessions we can help to retrain muscles firing patterns and significantly improve pain levels and range of motion.
